However, I personally think Ben Cameron makes a fundamental error in his &#8216;internet vs. live performance&#8217; paradigm. It&#8217;s not one VERSUS the other, and certainly not one OR the other. Users/audience members move between the two platforms or contexts more and more seamlessly. Its about how to best integrate and embed the two.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Tasmanian Premier, David Bartlet has launched the Tasmanian Innovation Strategy which focuses strongly on:</p>
<ul>
<li>Digital strategies and awareness raising,</li>
<li>Innovative agriculture</li>
<li>Renewable energy</li>
<li>Science and Research</li>
<li>Tourism</li>
</ul>
<p>Mr Bartlett said the chosen sectors were identified by the Australian Innovation Research Centre in its report, An Innovation Strategy for Tasmania A New Vision for Economic Development: Conceptual Overview and Options Outline, presented by Professor Jonathan West in late 2009.</p>
<p>“Many of the initiatives in this strategy are designed to strengthen and support businesses,” Mr Bartlett said.</p>
<p>“As part of the Innovation Strategy, we’ll be using technology to provide better and more efficient government services to business and the community … and we’ll help close the gap between rural and urban areas with services like eHealth and eEducation.”</p>
<p><strong>Digital economy</strong></p>
<p>• $5.85 million over two years for the sector to increase awareness of the opportunities provided by the digital economy, including:<br />
• a $1 million industry awareness initiative,</p>
<p>• $600 000 on strategies to grow awareness levels, including establishing a hands-on digital coaching pilot and a digital tool kit for small businesses</p>
<p>• $250 000 on research into the impact of the NBN deployment on business engagement in the digital economy and the effectiveness of government programs</p>
<p>• $400 000 to migrate key business websites to the Government 2.0 model for online information sharing and service delivery<br />
• $3.6 million for a Digital Futures Capital Fund, to fund the development and delivery of digital content, applications and services that add value to businesses and the community engaging in the Tasmanian digital economy<br />
• a Digital Futures Advisory Council to bring together world-class expertise to ensure Tasmania capitalises on its digital opportunities<br />
• collaborating with industry and TasICT to develop a Digital Economy Industry Strategy (DEIS).</p>
<p><strong>Agriculture, aquaculture and food</strong></p>
<p>$6.79 million over the next five years for programs to encourage innovative farming practices, raise awareness of career opportunities, and promote career pathways into Tasmania’s high value food and agriculture sectors</p>
<p><strong>Renewable energy</strong></p>
<p>• Up to $56 million, in a public-private partnership, to be invested in smart grids and renewable energy development on the Bass   Strait Islands.<br />
• a $30 million Renewable Energy Loan Fund over four years to assist Tasmanian industry to manufacture renewable energy technology or purchase and install renewable energy generation facilities.</p>
<p><strong>A vibrant, creative and innovative Tasmania built on its lifestyle advantages </strong></p>
<p>• a new, high level, independently-chaired Science and Research Advisory Committee will be established to provide Government with strategic input into the further growth of the sector<br />
• formulating a Science and Research Sector Growth Plan which will identify key objectives that will help to sustain and grow the sector, and will be an important input into the EDP<br />
• providing almost $1 million over two years to the Brand Tasmania Council to encourage Tasmanian businesses to leverage the Tasmanian brand<br />
• developing Regional Economic Plans and a Liveable Communities Framework as part of the EDP, to promote the liveability of communities and attract creative and innovative people to Tasmania<br />
• supporting and growing Hobart as a key gateway for the Antarctic and Southern Ocean including upgrading the city’s wharf and airport facilities, which is the focus of a State Government submission to Infrastructure Australia.</p>
<p><strong>Further growing Tasmania’s tourism advantage</strong></p>
